Panamá Shore Fishing Most people recommend fishing between January and May, when the weather is at its most comfortable and winds push bait fish towards the shoreline. Snappers, Snook, Trevallies, Blue Runners, and even Roosterfish are all possible targets.

West Beach Drive is a wonderful spot if you're looking for trout, flounder, and redfish. There isn't a pier here, so in order to hook your quarry, you will need to wade into the water. A simple spinning rod with a hook and a basic bait is all you need to begin your pursuit of these fish.

Many surf fishermen use fresh shrimp instead, because not only is it good for pompano, shrimp is also a favorite food of flounder, redfish and whiting. Just peel the shrimp in the middle, leaving the head and tail in place. Hook the shrimp on your double hook surf rig and cast it out.

You can surf fish almost anywhere along the Emerald Coast but some locals swear by their favorite spots. With a surf rod and reel you can cast out past the breakers to catch lots of species including pompano, redfish, drum, whiting, mackerel, sheepshead, and even sharks.
